B&B x Crocheted by Ciara

-

As part of our Meet the Makers series, we had the pleasure of catching up with Ciara, the talented creator behind Crocheted by Ciara, based in the picturesque town of Banbridge, Northern Ireland. Ciara masterfully balances her role as an NHS Dietitian and a busy mum of three while crafting beautiful, handmade crochet pieces—like the adorable crocheted bunny rattle featured in our New Mum & Baby Gift Basket. What began as a simple hobby, crocheting colourful hats for her son, has blossomed into a thriving side hustle. Join us as Ciara shares her journey, top tips for turning a passion into a business, and her favourite spots to explore in her hometown.

What inspired you to start crocheting and your business?

My eldest son- when he was a baby I crocheted him funky hats and everyone would ask where I bought them, to which they were amazed when I said I made them myself! So, from there I thought I’d set up a place where I could direct people to if they asked.

What does an average working day look like for you?

The crochet business is only my side hustle that I work on at night when my kids go to bed. I have three kids, aged 4 and under and I work as a Dietitian for the NHS, so my days are hectic!

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

My three kids!

How do you zone out from the world?

I crochet and listen to true crime podcasts.

If someone wanted to turn their passion into a business, what would be the one piece of advice you’d give them?

Stop stalling and just go for it! Don’t be afraid of failure and readjust your ideas along the way. Learning through trial and error is the main success driver of all thriving businesses.
